Chapter One

Brian stood separated from the rest of his crowd, watching the cars at the start line, eyeing one driver in particular. He couldn't help but feel as if his past was rushing up to meet him, or maybe even repeating itself, a sick feeling sitting heavily in the pit of his stomach. He didn't want to do this again and even more so from the opposite side of the fence. Even though he knew without a doubt that Dom wasn't doing anything close to illegal outside of street racing, he had little optimism that his lover wasn't the center of whatever investigation that brought the object of his attention into their lives. The feds were just too narrow minded and oftentimes too lazy to think outside of the box, preferring to choose the bad guy they knew to the one they hadn't found yet. If anyone should know that it was him, having been one of them at one time.

"What's up, B?" Brian heard a deep voice rumble in his ear, the sound making his pulse race in a way even the sound of a ramped up engine couldn't. For a moment he fought with himself, debating on whether to tell the truth or a white lie. He'd made a promise to Dom when the other man had accepted him back into his life, sworn he'd never lie again, but the idea of outing a federal agent, and a man he knew, didn't sit well. In fact it sat almost as hard as the man's very presence.

"I don't suppose you'd settle for an 'I'll have to get back to you on that'' would you?" Brian asked wondering which stood out more, his worry or his exhaustion. He couldn't stand the idea that Dom was once again under investigation, but at the same time he was weary from the constant struggle to get their lives back in order. He thought that they were finally beyond the investigation that had brought him into Dom's life, but apparently he was wrong.

The thing that confused him though was their choice of agent. Brian held little doubt that his former employer knew exactly what he was doing with his life now, and whom he was hanging out with. So, the worry of a federal agent's presence was somewhat blurred by the confusion of them choosing someone he not only knew, but someone he'd helped train. He just didn't believe that they didn't know the two of them would run into each other, and if they knew that, then they had to know that he would realize they were investigating someone.

Not real smart if Dom was their intended target this time, as he was before.

So, the question then was, if not Dom, then whom?

Of course, the easy answer was Dom's new boy that he'd come home from his latest and hopefully last stint in prison with. Brian knew from his own undercover jobs, that contact would need to be made as soon as possible. While there were other racers present, the new protégé had been making the biggest waves lately.

Then there was the fact that Brian knew very little about him.

Keeping his eyes trained on the man who had brought unease back into his life, Brian waited somewhat nervously for Dom's answer. "I guess that depends."

"I just need a little time, Dom," Brian assured. "Hopefully I will have the answers I need not long after the race is over."

"Alright, B," Dom finally consented, but Brian heard the tension in the words.

"Dom," Brian started hesitantly not sure he wanted to ask the question on the tip of his tongue. "How much do you really know about your boy?"

This time he wasn't allowed to continue his observation, as he found himself spun around to stare into angry brown eyes. "What the fuck is going on, Brian?"

"I need to know if your boy could be into something dirty," Brian asked calmly watching the words only inflame the fires of anger in his lover's eyes. "I'm not making accusation, D. I swear I'm not. But, some shit seems to be going down; I don't have answers, which is why I don't wanna tell you anything just yet. I just need to know that I ain't gonna get blindsided by your boy."

"Is it my boy's activities you're really questioning, O'Connor, or is it mine and you're just too chicken shit to ask?" Dom growled, and without thinking twice, Brian stepped up putting himself right into Dom's personal space.

"When was the last time I was too chicken shit to ask you anything straight out, Toretto?" Brian asked heatedly. "If I fuckin' wanted to know if you were playin' on the wrong side of the fence again, I would ask. Fortunately I don't have to because I trust you, and it ain't even that I don't trust your boy, D. I just don't know him, and before I find myself in a situation where I may have to stick my neck out for him, I'd like to know if it's gonna get chopped off!"

"I trust him, Brian," Dom said after taking several moments to calm down, but his answer didn't give Brian much peace of mind. "Yeah, well you trusted me too," Brian pointed out taking a half step back, hating to bring up old issues, but unwilling to leave his concerns unspoken.

"And, as I recall, I was right to," Dom again calmly replied, hard eyes on Brian still. "In the end, when it mattered, you saved Vince from that trucker and let me go. You didn't choose them, Bri, you chose us. So, as far as I am concerned, I was right all along."

"As far as Jay goes, I trust him as much as I trust you." Dom answered no hesitation in his voice. "Whatever is going on, whatever demons have come up, whatever laws are being broken, he ain't responsible. I'd stake my life on it."

Hearing the rev of the high-powered engines behind them, Brian turned and fortunately Dom let him, both interested in the outcome, Brian even more than before.

~*~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~*~

Jared sat in his car, his hands running soothingly over the leather of the steering wheel as if petting a lover. The car was the only thing he had to connect him to his old life, and while he hated everything else connected to it, he wouldn't give up this part of it for anything. Dom had in the beginning tried his hardest to convince him to get a different car to race in, but for Jared it would be like betraying a lover. Most of the people he knew loved their cars, but for Jared this was more than just a car. It was the only thing he had left that was proof he was real and not just a creation of Dominic Toretto.

He knew what the car could do. He knew when he could push and when he needed to back off. His love for the car kept his head on his shoulders, and prevented him from making stupid decisions. He trusted it in a way he doubted he'd ever trust a human. In his experience, humans lied, but a finely tuned machine just ran until you stopped listening.

On his right was a new guy, at least Jay hadn't ever seen him before. His car was nice, Jared was sure Dom would be interested enough to want to take at least a curiosity glance under the hood. It wasn't really Jared's style, more something O'Connor would drive. Jay's hands tightened momentarily at the thought of the man, before forcing himself to relax. He had a lot riding on this race, and couldn't let himself to be distracted by a man Jay was pretty sure didn't trust him.

On the other side of the new guy and himself were people he'd raced before, but wasn't sure of their names yet, just that they were people that knew Hector. Of course it seemed like everyone knew Hector so that didn't help much. Fortunately before Jay had much time to think about anything else let alone Brian O'Connor, Hector was raising his arms signaling the race was about to begin, and everything faded around him, his world narrowing to Hector, anticipating the drop of his arms.

The race was a simple rectangle, nothing tricky tonight except for the final turn - which, yeah gotta make sure the finish is exciting, yeah? - And Jay was thankful for it with a newbie in the crowd. For a moment the world stood still, the only sound was the squealing of tired, and the only smell was the burning of rubber. Then all at once everything rushed back, as Jay shot off the line jumping out in front, the new guy seeming to be pulled along with him riding his bumper like he wanted to make love to it.

Jay knew from conversations with Dom, that racing was the only time he ever really relaxed. During a race everything came together and he finally was completely in control of everything around him. Jared couldn't really understand that, but then he was usually a fairly calm kinda guy so it only made sense that racing ramped him up, sending all those high octane juices pumping through his veins putting all his senses on high alert.

Behind him he could feel the new guy trying to get around him. For a moment, Jared contemplated letting him pass just to make things interesting, but quickly discarded the idea. He had too much money riding on this, too much opportunity to make Dom proud, to show everyone he hadn't been wrong in taking this hick Texas wheel-man under his wing. Jared knew what people who knew Dom thought of him being sent to Dom's home to stay with Brian before Dom himself was released.

The bottom line was Jared owed Dominic Toretto big time, and he wasn't about to forget it ever, no matter how small the task at hand seemed to be in the grand scheme of things.

Looking back through the rear view mirror, Jared could see the guy who had been to his left trying to make his way around the newbie, and Jared's eyes narrowed briefly watching the action before turning back to his own race. He didn't really know the dude, but remembered there being a hassle with him after the last race he ran, and for some reason watching him mess with the new guy got under Jared's skin. He could only hope though that the guy had the skills to hold the punk off. The next time he looked back, the punk was gone and he could only see two cars behind him.

Somehow, Jared almost felt proud.

As they approached the final curve, Jared sensed that the newbie was gonna go for a pass, and hoped he was wrong. The curve was deceiving, and the guy could get into trouble real quick, but it was close to the finish line, so at least he wouldn't be left hanging without help if something happened. Before he could focus on it any more though, the curve was rushing up at him, and Jared was backing off just slightly as Dom'd taught him. Sure enough, newbie guy went sailing past and Jared couldn't help but laugh as he immediately lost control spinning out too far leaving Jared to drive right on by.

The finish then was fairly anti-climactic and Jared easily took the win, smiling big as the crowd surrounded his car momentarily with Dom making his way through looking proud. Jared let his eyes scan through the crowd, noticing that the new guy had managed to just beat the only other remaining car, with the punk just coming across the line just then, his front bumper missing and smoke coming out from under the hood.

Lifting his chin, Jared ignored Dom, who had just made it to his side, and the girls fighting for position on his arm, as he watched the punk intently. Dom told him that prison gave you some kind of danger alarm, and his was blaring shrilly in his head, telling him something was gonna go down, but quick. Oddly enough, as he turned his eyes back to the newbie to see if he'd noticed the trouble yet, he saw Brian standing by the new guy, neither of them appearing to have noticed that shit was about to hit the fan. He didn't even bother to call to Dom before he started shoving his way through the crowd. He knew if he'd sensed it, Dom would have long before him.

Jensen climbed out of his car, slamming the door angrily, pounding a fist on the roof, angry at himself for blowing it. He knew he wasn't supposed to care about the race as long as he made contact with O'Connor, but he couldn't help it. He damned himself a fool for not realizing there was a reason the stud had backed off before that last corner, but the adrenaline mixed with the possibility of winning had clouded his judgment.

At least all wasn't lost though, he knew he'd gotten O'Connor's attention beforehand. Made sure he'd been noticed by the older man, insuring they could make contact. Swallowing thickly, Jensen's fists tightened as the thrill faded and the panic slowly eased back in. Ever since Tom had gotten busted, Jensen'd felt like he had a huge bull's-eye on his back that he couldn't shake no matter how hard he tried. He was in deep shit and he knew it, he just couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

When he'd gotten the file for his current assignment, he'd almost cried with relief upon seeing Dominic's picture along with a handful of other possible marks. Dominic Toretto's presence meant Brian would be nearby, or at least Jensen'd hoped it did. When he'd sat through the briefing session with Rosey, talking about how badly his boss wanted Toretto to go down, if he was the guilty party wink wink. Jensen had deliberately left out the idea that Brian was most likely hanging around his old mark - Especially when his boss failed to even mention his former mentor and didn't especially seem to care about him. Jensen knew that Rosey hadn't thought Brian was anything special when he was working with him as a team member, and hoped that he could use that to his advantage as Brian had taught him.

Despite his boss' hopes, when he'd met with Bilkins, the agent who had been in charge of the former investigation on Toretto, the older man didn't seem too into the idea. While he had shared no love lost for the now two-time con, he readily admitted that the current operation wasn't really the older man's style. He'd also been the one to confirm Brian's current presence in Dominic's circle, and oddly enough it was off the record and he was given a direct order not to repeat it to his boss. Jensen hadn't really looked too far into the intense look the older man was giving him as he was relaying all this information, but he had a feeling that he was being sent to Brian for a reason, a reason that Jensen was more than happy to latch onto.

Taking a deep breath, Jensen turned and without too much effort, found the source of his thoughts heading toward him. Rolling his shoulders, Jensen briefly sought out the big guy who'd beat him and let himself take a moment to really drool. The guy seemed to have all Jensen's must have's in one gorgeous body. He was tall, taller than Jensen and definitely tall enough to make Jensen do anything he wanted, a factor that made Jensen's pants just a little bit more uncomfortable. The grey wife beater he was wearing did little to hide the tight abs and massive chest beneath it, another factor that made Jensen's heart beat just a little faster. He appeared to be older than Jensen, another plus and the smile he was flashing as he received his congratulations made Jensen's knees go weak. Jen could only pray to God that this fine hunk of male flesh was a close associate of Dominic Toretto's, and gay or at least bi.

So involved in his musings over his eye candy, Jensen didn't realize Brian had made his way to his side, 'til the older man slapped his shoulder sending him stumbling back into his car. Startled, Jensen turned with a glare, only to feel the heat fade at the sight of Brian's angry blue eyes drilling into him. "What the hell are you doing here, Ackles?" Brian snarled and Jensen's lip made its way between his teeth as he contemplated his mentor.

"Brian, it isn't what you think," Jensen rushed to explain holding his hands up, trying to swallow the lump of nerves lodged in his throat. "Just let me explain."

"When are you fuckin' people gonna leave Dom ALONE?" Brian asked shoving his way into Jensen's personal space, and with his back already to his car Jensen felt his own hackles start to rise. Quickly though he shoved them down, as he'd known Brian would react like this. He'd never hid his fondness for Toretto from Jensen while he'd been training him, trying to instill some sense of rightness in him that con didn't necessarily mean bad person.

"I swear to God, Brian, I am not here for Dom," Jensen rushed to say again, staring directly into Brian's eyes. "I mean, yeah my boss would love for Toretto to be the bad guy in this, but Bilkins said your boy didn't fit what I'm lookin for. Damnit, Irish, Bilkins practically ordered me to come find you AFTER giving me a file that listed you as a known associate of one Dominic Toretto."

Frowning, Brian took a half step back, but didn't take his eyes from Jensen's face. "Bilkins?" Brian asked trying to believe what he was hearing. "Big guy, soft in the middle, more stubborn that a fuckin' goat, hates Dom? That Bilkins?"

Jensen nodded smiling, finally feeling himself relax slightly as he shrugged. "Don't get me wrong. He ain't no convert to your boy's fan club, but he said if I went into this looking at Toretto as my main suspect I was screwed. He said if I was lookin' for stolen cars, or hell stolen anything he'd tell me I was a fool to look at anyone but Toretto, but it ain't anything like that. Sure my direct boss would love for it to be your guy, but I'm not even looking at him, Bri, I swear."

Snorting Jensen looked away then down, thoughts about his boss reminding him of his current situation. "Look, Irish, I know we haven't talked in awhile, but..." Pausing, Jensen lifted his eyes to look Brian square on before continuing, "I'm in deep shit man, and if you can't help me then I'm screwed." The fear in Jensen's eyes was easy for Brian to see, and any remaining anger or suspicion faded away, as his protective instincts took over.

When his supervisor had brought Jensen over giving Brian instructions to make sure he was trained well, it hadn't taken more than half a second before the kid had been mentally tucked under Brian's wing for protection. He was a striking kid leaning more toward pretty like Brian himself was, and he knew the kid would go through a whole boatload of crap for it. Turned out he was pretty easy going, if a little on the shy side and very eager to please. All he'd wanted to do was prove himself and Brian had quickly made sure the younger man knew there was no need.

Now, no matter how much time had gone past or how big the gap was between him and his former employer, Brian still felt protective of the younger man he'd eventually grown to think of as a younger brother. In a moment of clarity, Brian realized that this must be how Dom saw his new boy Jared. Easily the distrust he felt for the other man slipped away, as Brian found himself smiling at his younger friend ready to assure him they'd do anything they could and offer him any help he needed. Before he could speak though, Juan, an associate of Hector's who was currently on thin ice with pretty much everyone for his reckless driving and hot temper, stormed around the end of the car launching himself at Jensen before Brian could intervene.

Startled from his musings on whether Brian would help him or not, Jensen found himself lying on the ground with the jackass who had tried to run him into a light post on top of him trying to beat his face bloody. Before he could act though, the guy was hauled off and backed up into the side of Jensen's car with an angry Irish in his face.

"COPS!!" He heard someone shout, and Jensen plainly heard Brian's curse before letting the hothead go. Pulling himself up off the ground, Jensen saw Brian making some kind of silent communication with someone in the crowd before he turned his eyes back onto him. "We gotta jet. Let me drive?" Jensen secretly liked the fact that Brian didn't even wait for an answer, as if there was no doubt in what he'd say. Hurrying around the car, he was barely in, the door not even closed yet, before Brian had taken off shooting through and around cars with ease.

Jensen spent the next several minutes in awe as he was reminded of Brian's amazing driving skills. He remembered once Brian laughing at him when he'd commented on it saying Dom could outdrive him any day and shivered as he wondered what it would take to get to see that, or better yet get a ride so he could experience it.

Then just when he thought he couldn't get more confused, Brian turned into a parking garage, driving up to the top and parking next to another much plainer car that looked like some family should own. "Time to get out, Texas." Brian said grinning big before opening his door and climbing out, setting the alarm waiting on Jensen to follow.

"What's this?" Jensen asked confused as they moved to the other car, then just sat waiting. Before he could question the older man though, two cars pulled up quickly parking and the drivers got out. As they set their alarms and bullshitted with each other, Jensen recognized one being Dominic Toretto and the other mister tall, hot, and 'OMG I need that in me' from the race.

"Jay this is Jen," Brian said as the two men climbed in the back, "Jay, Dom, this is Jensen Ackles, I trained him before I left the bureau." Nervously Jensen turned to nod at the two men, and when he only saw hard distrusting eyes, Jensen's lower lip found its way between his teeth. "Jen I would introduce Dom, but you already know which one he is." Turning back to Brian, Jensen threw an angry glare as he tried to resist shrinking down in his seat with Dom being seated directly behind him. "Nice one, Irish. Yeah, although his file photo doesn't really do him justice."

Snickering Brian looked into the rearview winking at a simmering Dom, before turning to grin at Jensen loving his nervousness trusting his lover not to do anything until he knew what was going on. "Yeah, it's all those numbers and stripes. They're bad on his figure."

"Jesus, Brian," Dom muttered before Jensen heard a quiet chuckle and dared to relax a little as the car was started and eased through the parking garage at a moderate pace. "Relax, D, it's cool," Brian assured glancing in the rearview one last time before pulling out of the garage and into traffic to head home.

When the third cop car passed them without so much as a tap on the brakes Jensen finally realized what they'd done. "Huh, cool," he said aloud without realizing and Brian grinned. "Isn't it? It was Jay's idea. Guess he got tired of having to hoof it home on foot all the time after races."

In the back Jared shrugged grinning. "Not my fault you two are boneheads."

"Watch it, buttercup," Dom warned growling playfully, but Jared's grin only got bigger.

In the passenger's seat, Jensen found himself relaxing as city streets slowly eased into quiet suburban neighborhoods, and by the time they'd reached the Toretto residence he felt maybe some of the weight he'd been carrying had lifted itself from his shoulders. Following the others out of the car and into the house, Jensen hung back observing the obvious closeness between them, although Jared and Brian didn't seem to be as connected as either Brian and Dom or Jared and Dom. Chalking it up to being a newer connection, Jensen continued his observation until Brian handed him a beer and offered him a seat.

"Now, Texas," Brian said moving to sit by Dom, as Jared settled in another chair across from Jensen. "Tell me what's goin on. You said you were in trouble?"

And, just like that all of Jensen's anxiety and tension returned.

"Not long after you left, they shuffled the teams a little. Rosey ended up supervisor over our unit, and I was assigned to be Welling's partner." Jensen started looking down at the bottle in his hands. "They made Rosenbaum supervisor?!" Brian exclaimed shocked and Jensen only nodded as he'd been somewhat surprised himself.

"Yeah, I think most were surprised. I know I was just from what you'd said about the guy. I guess Rosey thought I needed another veteran partner because he paired me with Welling real quick. At first I thought it would be cool, I guess I just expected him to be like you, only it didn't take long to realize he was pretty much the exact opposite."

"Welling's a snake," Brian confirmed and when Jensen looked up, Brian was looking at Dom explaining. "We never got along. Apparently he wanted your assignment and wasn't happy they'd given it to me, someone who wasn't even in the bureau yet. Never let me forget you'd gotten away either or that eventually I came out of it without a scrape. He loved to call me dirty, but the funny thing was that if anyone was dirty it's him. That guy is worse than most of the crooks we arrested."

"Yeah, well eventually he got busted for it," Jensen offered chewing on the inside of his cheek. Letting his gaze wander, he saw Jared studying him quietly and immediately Jensen looked down again.

"Of course as soon as he went down they all immediately started looking at me, what with you leaving to go with a two-time con, and my second partner getting busted for prostitution, drug running, and bribery they just all assumed I was dirty too. Of course it didn't matter that I had never done anything wrong, and I'd answered all their questions honestly, I still got labeled. Then the ones that didn't call me dirty called me a rat for talkin' about my partner. But, it wasn't like he was you! An' it wasn't like he ever acted like a partner. You I wouldn't say anything about, even when there was nothing to tell, but I don't have any problems singin' about that snake."

Smiling proudly, Brian nodded feeling Dom relax a little next to him at Jensen's obvious loyalty to him. "Things were pretty rough there for awhile. I was sure I was gonna get fired, even if they couldn't find a reason. Then next thing I know Rosey is callin' me in giving me this assignment."

Jensen shook his head frowning. "Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful, but I don't get it. I was the last person anyone expected to get a huge undercover assignment like this."

"S'cause he doesn't expect you to succeed," Brian explained quietly. "Fucking up a major case like this is a sure fire way to get you out the door. Easy to make you the fall guy if it all goes down when like you said you had two partners labeled as dirty and you're still so green."

"You weren't fuckin' dirty," Dom snapped angrily butting in for the first time, and Brian smiled patting his thigh before explaining. "No, but they see it that way. I mean come on, D. I left a job with the Bureau to go be a mechanic with a known felon who I let escape on our first go-around, and that's all they see. They don't care about the gray, just the black and white." Turning his attention back to Jensen, Brian continued from where he'd left off with him.

"The other reason Rosey assigned you is he's as crooked as Welling. They've been fucking since they came into the bureau together, and everyone knows it. Most of us suspected he was dirtier than Tommy boy, so I am really surprised that they made him supervisor unless it's a setup. I still can't believe Bilkins sent you here though."

Shrugging Jensen started pealing the paper label off the bottle as he answered. "That guy's always around. Usually he sticks to talking to Flack, Messer, Stokes, and DiNozzo though. He's never really bothered with me before now."

"Wait, THOSE are the other guys in your team?" Brian asked and Jensen looked up at the shock in his voice, nodding confused. "Yeah, well Stokes' partner Sanders, but he's as new as I am I think."

"Brian, what?" Dom asked looking as confused as Jensen felt. Shaking his head, Brian turned his attention to his lover, as suspicions became more solid in his mind. "Flack, Messer, Stokes, and DiNozzo are all veteran deep undercover agents, Dom. We're talkin heavy-duty shit. They don't ever come out into the light of day unless they're between assignments, and they CERTAINLY wouldn't put them under a rookie supervisor like ROSENBAUM. Hell, I'm not sure DiNozzo and Stokes didn't already outrank Rosey. That's just... Something is goin' on there, something big."

Turning back to Jensen, Brian studied his protégé quietly before nodding as if he'd had a conversation with himself and was confirming an answer. "Jensen, what are you here for? You said Bilkins said it wasn't Dom's kinda thing, but if you've been put in with street racers, I can't really think of anything that WOULDN'T be right up D's alley."

Swallowing heavily, Jensen looked down when Dom shot Brian a dirty look, biting on the inside of his lip again as he went over his options in his head once more before committing himself to the path he was on. In the end though, he realized he'd committed himself the second he told Brian he was in trouble, if not the moment Bilkins sent him to Brian in the first place. So, the point where he could turn back was, either way, long gone.

"Drugs and running illegal's in from Mexico, mostly children and young girls to use for slave labor and personal sex slaves. Apparently the higher ups have some shaky evidence racers are doing the dirty work, and they suspect this guy named Sterling Brown as the guy at the top. Unfortunately they can't figure out enough of the middle parts to prove anything."

When Brian shook his head, Jensen stopped again watching his mentor rub his hands over his face. "Sterling K Brown, drug runner and number 1 scumbag, best known for exploiting women and children everywhere for his own personal gains. Nothing is more important to him than lining his pocketbook with as much green as he can get his greedy hands on. Sterling K Brown, whom both Messer and DiNozzo have experience with." Brian nodded before swearing loudly as he stood to pace around the confined area of the living room. "Jesus they are really tryin' to put the screws to you, Texas."

"What do I do, Irish?" Jensen asked knowing he sounded green and scared, but there wasn't any sense in trying to hide from the truth when he was green and very scared. He'd known he was in deep shit, and all Brian was doing was confirming it for him. Quietly he watched Brian pace, talking to himself in what sounded like him going over options until finally he stopped to look at Dom, even though Jensen assumed he was talking to him, not the older man.

"The problem is they aren't my biggest fans. I mean the bottom line is that I screwed up an investigation at least three of them could have done with their eyes closed and were probably better qualified for either as mechanics or racers." Taking a deep breath, Brian turned back to Jensen and Jen found himself squirming under the intensity of his gaze. "Of the four, you've got the best chances with either Messer or Stokes. Do you have any preference between them?"

Thinking Jensen shrugged and nodded carefully. "Stokes. Like I said, he has a partner who is new like me, and Greg's one of the few people who would talk to me after Tommy got fired. If Greg was there, I would probably stand a better chance. I don't think Messer likes me very much."

Shrugging Brian half smiled before glancing back to Dom. "Danny's always like that, but he's a pretty good guy. Fair, open minded, but I think I would have picked Stokes too. So, here is what you are gonna do. I assume you have his number or Greg's?"

After Jensen nodded wordlessly, Brian continued. "OK, I want you to call Greg, like now. Set up a meeting with the two of them tomorrow if you can. Let them know you need to talk to them and that you're bringing someone. I don't want you going off alone." Turning around, Brian looked at Jared. "Jay can you go with him? If either Dom or I went it would only set things off, and you're the only other person that I trust with Jensen's safety. I need to know he's taking someone who will watch his back."

Surprised, Jared's gaze darted around Brian to Dom who was starting at him quietly with a small smirk on his face before looking back. "You trust me? When did this happen?"

Brian sighed and blushed shrugging as he scratched the back of his head. "Tonight? Look man, I know I've been kind of a jerk, and I am sorry. It was never really you, just me and my... possessiveness towards Dom, I guess. But, tonight when I was talking to Jensen, I got the whole connection and his thing with you 'cause it's exactly the same with me and Jensen. So, I'm sorry I've been an ass, and yeah, I trust you to watch his hinny if you'll do it."

Smiling big, Jared nodded shrugging. "Sure thing. You know me, I'm always happy to flex my muscles and bash some heads." Hearing a snort behind him, Brian turned and matched Dom's grin sassing at his lover. "Jesus Dom, you came outta the joint with a mini Vince with like... Brains and all tall and crap. At least Vince was a midget and I had a chance at takin' him."

Easily Dom shrugged smiling patiently. "You aren't supposed to be fighting with the children, Mommy O'Connor. You're supposed to be baking them cookies and sending them to bed without dinner when they misbehave."

"Mommy O'Connor?" Jensen asked arching an eyebrow before throwing his head back and laughing as he held his sides, beer bottle falling empty and forgotten to the ground harmlessly. "Oh my God that is so Irish!"

When Brian moved back to Dom's side, Jared eased back in his chair and continued staring at Jensen as he had been throughout most of the conversation thus far. It hadn't taken him long to figure out he wanted in the other man's pants badly, and was already wondering what it would take to make him scream. He couldn't remember where he'd left off in his cataloging of Jensen's hotness, but decided it didn't matter. Between the freckles, the cock-sucking lips, and those little wrinkles at the corners of his eyes that said he liked to laugh, Jared was about to split through his pants he was so hard.

If he wasn't so sure Dom would punch him, he'd go over and kiss Brian for assigning him to babysitting duty. Letting his eyes wander for a moment, Jared looked over at Dom only to see his friend still watching him, now with a shit-eating grin on his face. Jared knew he'd been busted by big brother.

Jared shrugged his shoulders calmly as he watched Jensen out of the corner of his eye as the younger man pulled out his phone and dialed. Jared had never apologized to anyone for his sexuality and he wasn't about to start now, especially when he knew Dom would never ask him to. It was one of the things that had drawn him to the other man he'd shared a cell with. From almost the first second, Dom had treated him as one of his own, and when Jared confessed his sexual preferences to the man there hadn't been so much as a blink.

Of course later when Dominic explained Brian, Jared understood. The connection it forged made them closer than brothers, definitely closer than anything Jared had ever shared with his real brother and only sibling who was too much older than him to really give a shit about anything Jared did. All in all, Jared knew he was much better off with Dom as a big brother, and didn't regret the way his life was working out in the least.

Greg was lying on the couch watching Nick and the other guys from work go over things he wasn't supposed to know about when his phone rang. It took a few moments to locate where it'd fallen out of his pocket and apparently hid itself under the couch, but found it just in time, answering before he could miss the call.

"Greg?" He heard a familiar voice ask and sat up quickly a frown on his face. "Jen?" Greg asked drawing the others' attentions and stubbornly he fought the urge to flee from the room, reminding him for the millionth time that he'd earned his right to be there. It wasn't so easy though when the eagle eyes of four veteran agents were narrowed onto you.

"Hey, G," Jen said softly and Greg could practically see his best friend biting his lip wherever he was. "You got a second?"

"Aren't you supposed to be on a case?" Greg asked confused and worried that something had gone wrong and his friend was in trouble. When Nick came forward to stand in front of him, Greg stubbornly refused to look up, instead fought to center his concentration on his friend.

"Yeah, I am, that's... well that's kinda what I am calling about."

"Are you in trouble?" Greg interrupted rolling from the couch to stand pushing Nick aside. "Do you need me to come? Where are you?" Impatiently Greg shrugged off Nick's hand, which had come to rest on his shoulder, and Greg glared angrily at his partner and lover, knowing that he didn't trust his friend.

"G, slow down man," Jensen said easy and hearing the smile in his voice, Greg paused and took a deep breath. "I'm not in trouble, or at least not in any more trouble than I've been since Tommy got nailed. In fact for once, things are going according to plan."

Greg smiled feeling pressure fall away he didn't know he'd been feeling. Jensen was his friend, and despite what his partner and the other veterans thought, Greg didn't think Tommy's actions were any reflection on him. Of course he also didn't see as Brian was the terminal loser they did. Greg had always been of the opinion that you were more the sum of all your actions not just the average of the worst of them. "Then you found, Brian?" Greg asked smiling and when Nick moved away, Greg's eyes trailed his movements, not missing the look passed between Flack and Tony. Greg knew they were keeping things from him and didn't like it one bit.

"Yeah, I found Brian, and he said he'd help," Jensen assured then rushed on as if worried if he didn't get to the point of his call quickly he'd lose his nerve. "Look Greg, I need to meet you and Nick tomorrow. Brian suggested that it would be a good idea. You guys got time?"

Greg knew he should consult Nick. He knew he'd get yelled at for making decisions without consulting the others, but frankly he was sick to death of feeling like the tag along and damnit he was as much an agent as them even if he didn't have as many years under his belt as they did. "Sure, what time, Jen? We can meet at Monster Meater's, and Nicky can just... starve or somethin'." Greg said glaring mulishly at his partner who turned back to look at him.

"God, G, you don't know how much I appreciate this," Jensen rushed on to say and Greg waved a hand in the air, lifting his chin to glare stubbornly at the veterans watching him expressionlessly.

"Fuck that shit," Greg shot back. "You're my friend and you're my co-worker. We're supposed to have each other's backs. Frankly I don't give two shits what The Cynical Ones think. I trust you, what Tommy did had nothing to do with you, and I can't see as Brian did anything wrong at all. So, if you need me I'm coming. As far as Nick goes, I've followed him blindly enough times I would say he owes me one."

When Nick lifted an eyebrow, lips twitching with amusement, Greg just stubbornly lifted his chin further refusing to back down. His opinion was going to be heard in all of this whether they liked it or not.

"Tomorrow, noon-thirty? Oh, and I'll be bringing someone with me. His name is Jay. He's a friend of Brian and Dominic Toretto's."

"Ok, see you then," Greg said before ending the call letting the room fall into silence as the veterans stared at him.

"Growing some balls, Rook?" Tony asked finally breaking the silence and Greg just glared at the older man, refusing to step down.

"More like finally doing what's right," Greg shot back hotly, squaring his shoulders and feet ready to take on the world if he had to.

"Whoa, whoa, slow down here," Nick finally spoke moving towards Greg, but glaring at Tony over his shoulder. "Back off DiNozzo."

Just asking a valid question," Tony said easily and Greg practically snarled back at the aggravating man. "Jensen is not the problem!!" He spat trying to shake off Nick's hands which rested on his shoulders, the older man having moved to stand behind him.

He's had two dirty partners," Flack pointed out playing devil's advocate, but before Greg could defend his friend again, he was surprised to hear Danny speak up.

Technically, that would be one dirty partner," Danny corrected easily, his face still giving away nothing. "Brian wasn't ever proven dirty other than that digression with Toretto, and I would say with the way things worked out, that can be overlooked. He eventually brought him in, along with two others much bigger fish than Toretto, and got a man to do time when we all know he would've happily rather bit the bullet than go back if any of us had been the one chasing him. Far as I can see, Jensen isn't anything other than the victim of a corrupt partner, that being Welling, and an even more corrupt boss, that being Rosenbaum."

Messer!" Tony shot out and Danny turned standing confidently in front of the agent who was technically speaking his superior. "It's time!" Danny shot back, and Greg was confused, getting lost in the conversation inside the conversation, which he seemed to be missing.

He's proven himself I'd say, and frankly, he's our only link to Ackles, or are you such a bastard that you'd leave a rookie hanging out there on his own, in a case even one of us probably couldn't handle on his own? This thing is a mess! Now, Bilkins has said that he trusts Jensen AND BRIAN. Or, do you think he's a problem too? Are you startin' to get that terminal paranoia, DiNozzo?"

Children, children," Flack muttered putting himself between Tony and his lover staring down his long time friend, until Tony lifted his hands in surrender and defeat.

"Look, I think we need to take a step back here for a second," Nick said from behind Greg, watching the scene from over his lover's shoulder.

"I trust Greg's instincts, and while I don't agree with Brian letting Toretto go initially, I am fair enough to admit that since I wasn't there, I shouldn't be passing judgment. Toretto aside, O'Connor never gave us reason to doubt him after that, and Bilkins, whom I trust about as much as I do any of the bosses, is the one who brought Brian in AFTER all that shit went down." Nick gave Greg a squeeze before moving out and around, to stand slightly in front of the younger man.

"I do know that Ackles wasn't even bureau then, and wasn't really around Welling long enough to get mixed up in anything. Not that we all haven't looked anyway and so far I haven't heard that any of us have found reason to doubt his innocence or integrity. I also know, just like the rest of you Cynical Ones..." Nick paused and shot a look at Greg who blushed a deep red. "I know that the only reason Rosenbaum put Jensen on this case is to set him up as a fall guy, and I sure as hell did not take this job to watch some innocent, let alone a fellow agent, take the fall for corrupt scumbags like Michael Rosenbaum and Sterling Brown."

"Now, tomorrow, my PARTNER has set up a meeting with Ackles, where I will be offering my assistance. You three need to decide between now and then if you're gonna be part of the problem, or if you're gonna be part of the solution."

"I'm in," Danny said without hesitating and threw a look at his lover that almost made Greg giggle. "Well, I guess that means I'm in, too." Flack said shrugging at Tony. "I ain't sleepin' on the couch for you buddy boy."

When Tony sighed dramatically, Greg couldn't resist rolling his at the man, knowing he'd already given in. Danny's remark about his paranoia had hit home, and they all knew it. Happy that it looked like his friend was finally getting a break, Greg kissed his lover's cheek lightly before making his excuses and exited up to their bedroom leaving the others to plot. Greg didn't need to know their plans, confident that he would now be filled in on anything he needed to know. After all, Greg had already accomplished his mission for the evening.

~~~~~@-->--->------- --------<----<--@~~~~~
Taking a deep breath, Jensen looked up from where he'd been intently studying Dom's carpet to find Brian watching him. "It's all set," Jensen said needlessly and Brian nodded before patting Dom's knee and standing.
"It'll all work out, Texas," Brian reassured patting his shoulder before heading upstairs.
"You'll have to take the sofa, kid," Dom said on his own way out of the room following eagerly in Brian's wake. "Jay, get him some bedding stuff before you head up, please?" He requested before following Brian up the stairs not waiting for his friend to answer.
Finding himself suddenly alone in the room with a man he didn't know, Jensen turned to find the tall sexy man watching him guardedly and sat again in the chair he'd occupied earlier bouncing his knee nervously.
"It'll be cool man," Jared finally said, his deep voice sending shivers through Jensen's body as a recognizable twang came out for the first time. "Dom won't let anyone mess with you."
Frowning at the statement, Jensen cocked his head to one side. "Why would Dominic Toretto care what happens to me? I would think someone like him would care less if a federal agent got taken out."
"Someone like him?" Jared repeated arching his eyebrow leaning forward and Jensen's eyes got wide at the intimidating ire that flowed off the larger man in waves. "What's that mean, exactly?" Jared asked standing and crossing the room, stood in front of Jensen's chair. "Someone like him, you mean an Italian? Or maybe you mean because he's a bald muscular mechanic? Or, maybe you mean 'cause he's a con? That it, Mr. FBI man? You mean cause he's a con he can't be a decent enough human being that he wouldn't make sure a man his BOYFRIEND cared about was taken care of and protected? That what you mean Mister FBI man?"
Not sure how he'd come to find himself in this predicament, Jensen, wide eyed and pretty sure he was about to get his ass kicked, wisely kept his mouth shut, not sure Brian would intervene if Jared was the one kicking his ass. When Jared leaned down, putting his hands on the chair leaning in towards him, Jensen found himself pressing himself backwards as far as he could, the danger bells going off loudly in his head. "'Cause you know, I'm one of those Con type people, Mr. FBI man, and if Dom can't be trusted to be a decent human being, then I don't know how I could be. And, if I can't be trusted then shit, I just don't know what good I'll be tomorrow."
When Jared turned and hurried up the stairs, Jensen sighed with relief, his pulse racing with fear, but didn't relax until blankets and pillows were thrown at him before Jared stormed out of the house. Shaking his head confused, Jensen rubbed a hand over his face, and then settled in for what he guessed what going to be a long sleepless night on the couch.
~~~~~@-->--->------- --------<----<--@~~~~~

Brian was halfway undressed by the time Dom got upstairs, and finished pulling off his jeans and briefs letting both fall to the floor, before throwing himself down on the bed to watch his lover and boyfriend undress. "What do you think will happen tomorrow?" Dominic asked and Brian sighed rolling his head over to look out the window, before turning his attention back to Dom.

"I dunno, hopefully things will be cool. Stokes is a pretty decent guy. I don't really remember much about this partner of his but I trust Jensen's assessment of the guy. He's a fairly decent judge of people, ya know?"

Dom nodded pulling off his shirt and jeans tossing both in the hamper before picking up Brian's jeans and briefs giving the younger man a look, satisfied when he grinned sheepishly before pulling off his own briefs and joining him on the bed.

"Enough about the children," Dom said, his voice dropping a notch and taking on that husky tone that he knew ever failed to turn his lover on. Before he could continue though, he heard pounding feet on the stairs and turned his head frowning.

"Dom," Jared said throwing the door open without knocking, "I'm going out."

"I'll be back in time to take the girly boy out on his little date tomorrow," Then without waiting for a response, Jared slammed the door shut, and he could be heard pounding back down the stairs.

"What the fuck?" Dom growled, but when he moved to get up, Brian grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back down.

"It's between them Dom," Brian said one he had his lover's attention again. "Jensen probably said something stupid, and Jared probably over reacted."

"Children," Dom huffed then turned his mind back to the business at hand. "Now, where was I?"

Lowering his head, Dom claimed Brian's mouth feeling his lover's hands gripping his waist. Growling in the back of his throat, Dom shifted on the bed, moving his body to lie on top of Brian's propping himself up on his elbows to keep the full extent of his weight off the other man. He could feel Brian's hands gripping his waist, knew he'd have small fingertip shaped bruises there in the morning, and didn't much care as long as Brian kept arching upward rubbing them together in that way that never failed to shift Dom into overdrive.

His pulse already racing from the drive through town earlier when he'd been trying to avoid the cops and not knowing if Brian was safe or not, it didn't take Dom long to become impatient and need more than the foreplay was giving him.

"On your stomach, O'Connor," Dom growled reaching over to blindly search through the bedside nightstand as Brian wiggled out from under him, turning over and resting on his knees and elbows. Finally he found the lube he'd been searching for - condoms having been abandoned long ago after they both came back clean and sworn their devotion to each other. Dom growled and found himself scraping his teeth over the white globes of Brian's ass, his hands running restlessly up and down Brian's sides as the other man arched and moaned beneath him, begging and pleading for more.

"Damnit, Toretto, you're the one that shifted this into high gear." Brian complained, his hands squeezing the bed posts until he was white knuckled, glaring over his shoulder at his lover. "Now, give it Goddamnit!"

Biting at Brian's ass a few more times, Dominic shot Brian a hot look before opening the lube and quickly squeezing out enough to cover his fingers, slipping two into Brian, well aware how his love was when things were this fast and frenzied. "Fuck!" Brian bit out, back arched and head thrown back, Dom guessed his eyes were closed as his breath came out of his mouth in pants. "D," Brian whimpered pushing back onto Dom's fingers. "Enough, jus..." Dom growled as Brian begged. He hated when Brian tried to rush this part, he never got over his fear of hurting the other man, even if he never had in all the time they'd been together.

Quickly he pulled his fingers out, squeezing out more lube, slicking himself up as much as possible, happy when the cold served to calm him enough to think. Otherwise he was afraid this ride wasn't even gonna last the 15 second mark. Gripping Brian's hips, Dom lined himself up and shifted his weight forward, letting himself slip in much slower than his partner liked, but Dom's iron grip on his hips didn't give him much room to change things.

Dom felt some kind of perverse satisfaction knowing his hips wouldn't be the only ones with fingertip bruises in the morning. Once he was fully inside his lover though, all thoughts ceased as they slipped into their familiar pattern. Hard, fast, needy, racing toward a finish line they both could see clearly, both wishing they could keep the pace forever, but knowing they couldn't.

It was Brian who touched the finish line first.

Dom's big paw having reached around and wrapped itself over his dick, hand jerking roughly, calluses rubbing deliciously over Brian's cock the way he loved. When he came, his whole body tightened, back arched, ass tightening around Dom, toes curled tightly as he threw back his head and screamed Dom's name. Behind him Dom pounded into Brian's ass a few more times before it was his turn, back arching before he bent over, his teeth sinking into Brian's shoulder as a deep feral growl came from the pits of his soul as he shot his seed into Brian's ass.
