Chapter Twenty

Stephanie rubbed her belly watching her husband pace around the room. "How did he find out?" She asked then shrank back into her chair at the glare she got from Hunter. "How do you think?" Hunter growled and Stephanie bit her lip. There was only one possibility, but she didn't understand why he would do it. "Why would he tell?" She finally asked then squealed as Hunter lunged at her. "What is it with you and stupid questions?" He screamed in her face and Stephanie bit her lip harder to keep from crying, which would only anger him further. Hunter was not a man that liked weakness in those he surrounded himself with.

Pacing away Hunter stomped around the room throwing his hands in the air. "How the hell should I know why he did it? How the hell should I know why he does anything?" Stephanie licked the blood off her lip that she'd drawn with her teeth and quietly wondered what they were going to do now.

Glen saw in his chair several hundred miles away watching his Sean pace back and forth wavering between heart wrenching anxiety and fist clenching rage. Silently Glen himself wondered what he was going it do. It was getting harder and harder to balance on the fence he was sitting on and soon he was going to have to choose a side. The fact that he had to choose one at all showed how terribly wrong his friend had miscalculated. He'd supposed to have been manipulating Sean all these years, but quickly his heart had gotten in the way and now it was not his loyalty to Sean that was in question in his mind.

Sean had yet to figure out that Paul had been telling him the truth when he said that he was a twin. He had no clue that Shawn had been an innocent man when he'd injured him. He certainly had no clue that Glen had known all these things all along and once he found out the truth of matters his precious would quickly exit his life sending him back into the darkness to suffer the wrath of the monster and demon lord himself.

"I'm gonna kill him!" Sean screamed and Glen decided against pointing out Kevin was already dead. Sop instead he said, "baby there's nothing that you could have done to prevent it." When Sean paused and his face fell, Glen knew that he'd hit upon what was really bothering his gentle lover. Opening his arms he watched Sean rush to him and when he was safely cradled on his lap Glen held him tightly kissing his temple. "We'll go see her. We'll leave tomorrow I promise. I promise she will be fine." Sean sniffled and rubbed his cheek against Glen's massive shoulder then closing his eyes fell into an uneasy sleep while Glen contemplated his future.

Far away a man growled softly in the darkness running his hand over the ball letting the clouds settle back. Around him the air was thick and murky, unbreathable to any human but he was after all something less than human. His cloak swirled around his feet like gremlins scampering to get out of his path as he paced restlessly. "So he means to betray me," he growled in a tongue no human could understand. Lifting a fist he watched the human flesh rot away revealing the claws and withered covering of his true nature.

Slowly words began to form on his lips rolling off his spiked tongue as they swirled around as if they had life of their own. The air crackled with an energy that could have killed and over the demonic paw an orb of fire and flame began to hover as the words got louder and the anger always residing within the demon grew to greater and greater heights. Finally he turned and with a deep bellow of rage hurdled the orb into the ball now showing the home he'd been observing earlier. It would not kill for he knew Glen would not be sleeping, but it would send the message he intended. His betrayer would know he had been discovered and had now become one of the prey.
