Chapter Eighteen
Sean paced restlessly back and forth in the catering area as wrestlers sat quietly stunned at what had happened. Across the room Mark was trying to reach Glen hoping that Sean Waltman would know where Kevin could have taken Angel. At the same time Sean was trying to reach Paul and Shawn hoping that one of them would know as well.
When Sean heard Mike's voice his suspicions had been confirmed. His friend sounded scared to death and when the call dropped unexpectedly Sean's bad feeling got worse. Then after questioning the wrestlers and crew one of the crew members reluctantly admitted to seeing Kevin earlier that day and telling him when they expected Angel to show up. It had taken all of Sean's self-control as well as John Cena's calm voice to keep Sean from killing the ignorant man.
Sean had immediately called Scott and wasted an hour trying to convince the stubborn man to stay where he was. Since they were in Georgia, Sean hoped that Kevin had taken her somewhere near his home, which meant that Scott who was in Florida would be the closest one to her. Then as if he didn't have enough to worry about, Matt Hardy spoke up and reminded them all of the hurricane that was to hit Florida that evening.
Growling impatiently he turned to pace back the other direction when he heard someone pick up on the other end. Without waiting to find out who had answered he demanded to speak to Sean getting a startled, "hold on," in return. Suddenly finding himself surrounded by people Sean was forced to stop pacing and instead chose to bounce in place as he waited for the older man to come to the phone. "You bellowed?" Shawn drawled as he picked up the receiver in his bedroom. Ignoring the smart remark Sean cut right to the chase. "Kevin finally lost it for real. He's kidnapped angel."
The wise crack that had been on Shawn's lips died immediately once he heard Kevin had Angel. He'd always known Kevin had a somewhat unnatural affection for her, but he never dreamed that he would go this far. "You're sure it's Kevin?" Shawn asked and the growl that followed answered his questions before Sean could even speak. "He was seen in the parking lot. Do you have any clue where he would take her? HE might have Mike with them 'cause Mikey tried to call me, but we got cut off. Now I can't reach him."
Shawn sighed shakily as he ran a hand through his hair feeling Paul putting his hands on his shoulders. "Yeah, I have a pretty good idea. Kevin owns a beach house. He used to take Scott there. Kevin loves it 'cause it's right on the ocean. Last time I talked to Scott, he made a crack about Kevin's shrine on the water. I didn't pay much attention at the time."
Shawn's eyes moved to the television where Paul had turned on the weather channel to get an update on the hurricane. "Sean, it's right on the ocean. You'll never make it there. The hurricane…" Shawn couldn't continue, but then he didn't have to. Sean knew exactly what he was saying. As the big man's face paled his knees gave way and he would have fallen if it weren't for the people around him. "She's gonna die," he whispered and the room fell to an eerie silence.
Angel lay shaking on the bed eyeing the knife in Kevin's hand. She could hear Mike moaning softly and thanked God that at least he was alive. Hearing a noise something caught her attention behind Kevin. Glancing at the window she noted the bad weather outside and remembered the hurricane. Angel figured that she should be laying somewhere hear a direct hit. Closing her eyes she prayed to God for a miracle and begged him for Scotty's forgiveness. "Marcus before you send me to my next life can I please feel you inside of me one more time?"
Through the sliding glass doors behind Kevin she could see the hurricane blowing things around and prayed harder. She could see Kevin considering her request, but knew the instant it had been rejected. She had no clue what to say to buy herself more time. As Kevin raised his arm, the noises from outside became unbearable. The windows shattered and the glass sliding doors rattled alarmingly. She could see Mike trying to pull himself up but feared he wouldn't help her in time.
Closing her eyes, Angel waited for the knife to strike when she heard a loud shattering noise and felt something wet hit her face. Opening her eyes she watched Kevin's headless body jerk and convulse as shards of the thick patio door glass stuck out of his body. Just as Mike fell over her, she watched Kevin's body fall to the floor. Closing her eyes Again Angel thanked God and played for him to send Scotty to her.
