Sugar stared across the crowded room not seeing any of the many people filling the place. At the bar Glenn spotted his young friend and smiling sighed softly. Picking up his bottle of beer he excused himself from his conversation with Batista and Randy then made his way to his new friend. Carefully Glenn set his bottle down and sat at the table directly in Sugar's path but wasn't seen by the lovesick young man. "Why don't you go see him?" Glenn asked softly trying not to startle Sugar but not succeeding.

Jumping Sugar gasped then smiled sheepishly as his face turned red. Hey Glenn! I uhh didn't see you there." Glenn grinned back at Sugar. "Hey Greg I noticed. Why don't you go see him?" The Dixie Chicks came on over the bar's speakers making Sugar hang his head.

I've sure enjoyed the rain
but I'm looking forward to the sun
You have to feel the pain
when you lose the love you gave someone
I thought by now the time
would take away these lonely tears
I hope you're doing fine all alone,
but where do I go from here 'cause

Without you I'm not okay
And without you
I've lost my way
My heart's stuck
in second place ooh
Without you

Well I never thought I'd be
lying here without you by my side
It seems unreal to me that
the life you promised was a lie
You made it look so easy
making love into memories
I guess you got what you wanted
but what about me 'cause

Without you I'm not okay
And without you
I've lost my way
My heart's stuck
in second place ooh
Without you

Somebody tell my head to try to tell my heart
That I'm better off without you
'Cause baby I can't live

Without you I'm not okay
And without you
I've lost my way
My heart's stuck
in second place ooh
Without you...Without you

When Sugar spoke finally it was so softly that Glenn almost didn't hear him "I'll see him day after tomorrow."

"But you want to see him now," Glenn pointed out chuckling. "GO SEE HIM!" Sugar opened him mouth to argue, but Glenn cut him off. "GO YA DAMN STUBBORN HURRI-BRAT!" Making up his mind Sugar smiled for the first time in days. "I know when I ain't wanted!" Glenn chuckled as Sugar ran out as if the law was after him.

Sugar was still running when he reached the airport coming to a halt only when he'd reached the ticket counter. "I need to get to Shann err I mean umm." Sugar paused realizing that he wasn't sure at that moment where Shannon was. Calmly the ticket agent just blinked at him. "Your destination sir?"

Starting to panic Sugar racked his mind trying to remember where Shannon was. Taking out his cell phone he dialed Adam Copeland's cell phone. "WHAT?" Adam asked as he answered. "Where are you?" Sugar screeched confusing the blond on the other end. "Umm," was the only response he could get from the Canadian. "In a car?" Frustrated Sugar clenched his jaw and forced out, "WHAT GODDAMN CITY ARE YOU ON YOUR WAY TO?"

"Oh Memphis!" Adam shouted smiling proudly until he realized that he'd been hung up on. "How rude!"

"Who whazat?" Shannon asked from the passenger's seat. Frowning Adam shrugged and put down the cell. "I dunno. They never said." At the airport Sugar shouted his destination to the woman who just blinked again before looking at her computer screen. "There are no more flights to Memphis tonight sir. I can get you to Chicago."

"I need to get to Memphis," Sugar insisted bouncing hyperly. "I can get you to Chicago," she repeated again blinking cluelessly. "I NEED to get to MEMPHIS," Shane replied stomping his foot. "I can get you to Chicago, sir," she repeated stubbornly sounding like a broken record. Growling Sugar realized that he wasn't going to get anywhere but Chicago with this brain-dead woman. "FINE! Get me to Chicago!"

"Very good sir," she replied in the same lifeless monotone voice she'd been using. Once the ticket was issued and in his hands Shane looked at the departure time and realized that he had all of five minutes to reach the gate. Looking up he swore that he saw an evil glint in the woman's eye. Taking off in a sprint he dashed to the gate and after what seemed to be a conspiracy of brain-dead evil airport personnel delaying him he just made the final boarding call.

Finding his isle seat he didn't even mind the young cowboy sitting next to him or the 15 yr old girl across the isle who squealed his name and instantly asked for an autograph. After signing her notepad several times for what seemed to be an endless string of friends and answering a million questions about Jeffy, the girl's mother chastised her into leaving him in peace.

Leaning his head back and closing his eyes the song playing on the young cowboy's discman caught his ears and Shane sighed. Insanely he wished that the girl would start chattering again when the words to the song caught his attention.

I can't imagine, any greater fear
Then waking up, without you here,
And though the sun, will still shine on,
My whole world, would all be gone,
But not for long,

If I had to run, if I had to crawl
If I had to swim a hundred rivers, just to climb a thousand walls,
Always know that I will find a way, to get to where you are,
There's no place that far

It wouldn't matter why we're apart,
Lonely minds or two stubborn hearts
Nothing short of God above
Could turn me away from your love
I need you that much

If I had to run, if I had to crawl
If I had to swim a hundred rivers, just to climb a thousand walls,
Always know that I will find a way, to get to where you are,
There's no place that far

If I had to run, if I had to crawl
If I had to swim a hundred rivers, just to climb a thousand walls,
Always know that I will find a way, to get to where you are,
There's no place that far

Baby there's no place that far

Shane must have fallen asleep because the next thing he knew he was being jolted from his heart's embrace to hear the giggle of the 15 yr old as she nudged him awake. "We're here Sugar," she giggled then bounced off after her mother. Shane unbuckled his seatbelt and hurried off the plane thinking only of Memphis. After 15 minutes with another ticker agent who didn't have a flight to Memphis but DID have one to Dallas, Shane growled and marched away. Making his way out of the airport he stod outside wondering what he was going to do when a taxi driver parked nearby caught his attention. "Where ya goin Mister?" The cabby called.

Sighing Shane resisted the urge to call out crazy and instead shouted out, "Memphis." Shane expected some smartassed comment, but was pleasantly surprised when he got a helpful reply. "Ya thought about tryin' the train?" Intrigued Shane approached the cab and stuck his head in the passenger's side window. "I can get to Memphis by train?"

"Nah," the cabby replied, "but ya can get to Waterloo, IN an' Memphis ain't more ' an 8 hour drive from there give or take dependin' on how fast ya drive."

"Sold!" Shane said and hopped into the cab. Groaning Shane tried to relax his tired muscles, but found it impossible when yet another song came on the radio in the cab that reminded him of his golden haired lover.

Every time our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me
Baby you surround me
You touch every place in my heart
Oh it feels like the first time every time
I wanna spend the whole night in your eyes

I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

Every little thing that you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Oh, every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you.

As he traveled through the city he let his mind wander to an early memory of his love. It settled on a birthday… Shannon's 18th. The group of them had been celebrating and his fair cheeks flushed redder with excitement at each new gift he opened. Each was greeted with the same amount of childlike enthusiasm whether it had been comic books and action figures or the black leather jacket that he'd been eyeballing for months. But then that was one of the reasons he loved him so much.

His baby was simply one of the most beautiful creatures that had ever been created… inside and out. He was honest to the point where it would get him into trouble with those that weren't really as interested in the truth as they said they were. He had as inborn sense of the goodness or badness that lay within others that Shane had come to depend o over the years. He knew that it had nothing to do with outer beauty or lack thereof. Rather it was made up of a simple concept of seeing the purity or the cloudiness of one's heart and soul. He loved freely and openly often confusing those more cynical could into believing him to be less than he was.

Shane knew though that his love was nothing less than his very own angel taken from heaven and given to him to care for… NOT that he would tell Shannon that. His love was hell bent on proving to the world that he was an independent man. Anyone foolish enough to refer to him as anything but a grown man would quickly be greeted with a shouted, "I ain't a kid!"

Not that anyone ever believed him when he said such things, but most would smile and offer a humble, "of course not, I'm sorry," if for no other reason than to keep themselves in the adorable cherub's good graces.

"We're here man," the cabby called yanking Sugar from his thoughts. Nodding Sugar took some money out of his wallet paying the driver then got out. As the cab drive off Sugar stood outside of the building wondering how long before he could begin the next leg of his journey to his golden angel.

After purchasing the ticket to Waterloo, Sugar sought out a bench that was probably as hard as it looked, but empty and long enough to hold his just over six foot frame. He had three hours to fill and thought that he'd catch a quick nap. His mind though was too full of thoughts of his love to allow sleep. Trying to clear his head he concentrated on the song just starting over the train station speakers letting it put him to sleep.

I always said that'd be it
That I wouldn't stick around if it ever came to this
Here I am, so confused
How am I supposed to leave when I can't even move?
In the time it would have took to say, "Honey I'm home, how was your day?"
You dropped the bomb right where we live
and just expect me to forgive...

Well that's a mighty big word for such a small man
And I'm not sure I can
Cause I don't even know now who I am
It's too soon for me to say...forgive

I should ask but I won't
Was it love or just his touch?
Cause I don't think I wanna know
So get you some things
And get out
Don't call me for a day or two
So I can sort this out
Well you might as well have ripped the life right out of me
Right here tonight
And through the fallin' tears you said
"Can you ever just forgive?"

Well that's a mighty big word for such a small man
and I'm not sure I can
Cause I don't even know now who I am
It's too soon for me to say...forgive

You know what they say
Forgive and forget
Relive and regret

Forgive...

Well that's a mighty big word for such a small man
And I'm not sure I can
Cause I don't even know now who I am
It's too soon for me to say...forgive

Oh...it's too soon for me to say FORGIVE

The song sparked another old memory, which chose to replay itself in Shane's dreams. This memory however was not as happy as the other one had been even after all of the years and understanding that had come since then. It was the spring of Shannon's 19th year and Shane had been 25 and madly in love. Shane had just come home after being gone for two months wrestling with various indy feds. Shannon hadn't been able to get booked on more than a handful of shows so he had spend most of his time at his house or Jeff's claiming that he was working on new moves.

Shane hadn't been scheduled to come home until the next day, but their last show had been ify and when the promoter hinted that he's overbooked Shane offered to go home. He hadn't knows you could have missed someone has much as he'd missed Shannon that say, so when someone offered a ride while would be going through Cameron, Shane jumped at the offer. All the way home he'd imagined the look of happiness on Shannon's face when he saw that his Shaney was home. The sight that greeted him however had been unexpected to say the least. His little angel naked from the waist down with Jeff's face between his legs sucking for all he was worth.

The scene that followed had been ugly to say the least. Jeff had been grabbed by his peroxide blond locks and thrown from the house. Shannon had been treated to three hours of screaming, ragging and name calling before being thrown out himself with his pants following behind him. For a week he'd sulked insisting Shannon was some evil being sent straight from the devil himself to anyone that had listened.

When Matt Hardy dared though to agree even going to far as to call Shannon the "s" word he'd been asked to leave after being treated to a black eye and a fat lip. The next day Christian and Joey had come to visit. Christian hadn't been able to sit and watch his friend Shannon suffer any longer and had begged Joey to step in on Shannon's behalf. In the end though it had been Christian's whispered echo of Shannon's screamed confusion from that horrible day that had gotten through to him.

"I don't understand," Chrissy had whispered after listening to Shane and Joey scream for an hour and a half. "It was just Jeffy." Then seeing he'd gotten Shane's attention Christian pressed on in a rare moment of defiance. After all if anyone was worth it his beloved Shannon was. "Ain't like you've kept your dick in your pants the las' two months with whatzhisfuck around. Ain't like they fucked. Jus' did a li'l kissin an suckin' an snugglin'."

The Shocked look on Shane's face must have been priceless as he finally realized what Shannon had been trying to say that day. It must have been comical because Joey laughed his ass off. Shane would have decked him too like he had Matt, but unlike Matt, who was as guttless as a butchered hog despite all of his gruff and grumble, Joey woulda fought back and maybe kicked his ass. Or worse yet Christian would have because despite his sweet laid back exterior no one touched HIS Joey.

Sugar woke up with a gasp filled with the same longing that he had for Shannon that day. Looking at his watch he saw that he'd slept for 2 ½ hours. It was 5:30 and his train left at 6 AM sharp. Running though the train station he found his train and plopped down into his seat. As he closed his eyes again and let his head fall back to rest one of the only country songs he ACTUALLY knew the words to popped into his head. Involuntarily he started singing even though he knew that he was probably butchering the song.

Well I, I still can remember times
When the night seemed to surround me
I was sure the sun would never shine on me
And I, I thought it my destiny
To walk this world alone
But now you're here with me
Now you're here with me

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
To get me to you

Well I, I still can recall the days
When I had no love around me
Makes me glad for every day I have with you
And I, I look in your eyes and know
I'm right where I belong
And I belong with you
Always belonged with you

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to go through
To get me to you
To get me to you

And if I could I wouldn't change a thing
Wouldn't change a thing baby
Because your love was waiting there for me
Waiting there for me baby

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
To get me to you

Humming the chorus repeatedly Shane smiled as the song always made him feel better. Maybe it sounded corny and probably wasn't hightly manly, but he believed that he'd fallen in love with Shannon almost as soon as he'd seen him. He'd never understoof how anyone could not love his Shanny. He was simply the cutest, most adorable, and most loving creature on planet earth. There wasn't a square inch of his soul that wasn't madly in love with his little golden angel and it would remain that way well past the day that he died. Every year on their anniversary Shane planned something romantic for them to do. Each year it was a challenge to outdo the previous year. Last year's though was going to be harder than normal.

There was a spot in the woods near where Shannon had grown up that he liked to go to. Over the years Shann had come to thing of it as his spot even going so far as to buy it from the county when he'd gotten enough money from WCW to ensure that it would always be his. For several weeks prior to the evening of their anniversary Shane'd had the woods sprayed to kill off as many of the bugs and mosquitoes as possible. Then he'd bought a generator and they day before he'd gotten Jeff, Christian and Joey to help him string thousands of white Christmas lights around a small clearing.

The afternoon of his anniversary he and Jeff had scattered hundreds of rose petals on and around the table they'd placed in the center of the clearing. They picked and bought as many wildflowers as they could find, filling the small area until it couldn't hold another single petal. While they were doing that Joey and Christian picked up a pair of tuxes that they'd gotten from WCW during their 3 count days from the cleaners. Then Christian delivered Shanny's and stayed to help him dress while Joey delivered Shane's then headed over to assist Christian. At 7 PM sharp Shane showed up on Shannon's dpprstep with a single red rose in his hand.

Christian answered the door letting Shane in to wait for Shannon to finish a few last minute alterations to his appearance. When Shannon came out Shane oohed and ahhed appropriately thinking Shanny the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. When Shane had given Shanny his rose and told him how beautiful he was Shann's cheeks turned red. It never failed to amaze Shane that Shannon cold still blush, but then it was yet another thing he loved about him so much.

Shane rented a limo for the night, which made Shannon squeal. Shane sat back and chuckled while his adorable little cherub had to push every button he could find. Shane made the driver take them all around town and Shannon declared that he felt like royalty. When they reached the woods Shannon had been so excited that he hadn't even realized where they were at first. Shane escorted Shannon along a long red velvet path that Joey set up after dropping off Shane's tux and helping Christian. He's also turned on the generator so that when Shannon saw his little blearing he was for maybe the first time ever breathlessly speechless. When he spotted Jeff and some of their friends dressed also in suits and tuxes so they could be their musical entertainment, Shannon squealed again and ran over to hug Jeff making Shane smile and laugh.

Eventually Shane got Shannon seated at the table where they ate their catered 5 course meal. After dinner the two danced while Jeff sang a variety of love songs ranging from pop to 80's rock ballads and even two country songs. After Jeff sang one of Shann's favorites, Shane took a small velvet box from his tux coat and gave it to Shannon promising to love, honor, and cherish his little cherub for the rest of their lives.

That night when the limo took them back to Shane's he led Shanny to their bedroom, where on silk sheets he made slow sweet love to his angel. As the train sped along it's tracks Shane remembered every tiny detail of that evening of love making.

By the time Shane got to the car rental place in Waterloo, he would have paid any price if it would just get him to Memphis. The car ride was long and uneventful. For some rason he kept stopping on country stations with one song seeming to crop up time after time.

Maybe it was the moonlight
The scent of you on the breeze
Maybe it was your shadow that fell over me
Such a beautiful stranger
Eyes darker than coal
Your first look crossed desert
Into my soul

Mi Corazon Perdido En Ti
My heart is lost to you
You have captured my love completely
My heart is lost to you

Maybe it was the music
The way it moved with your hair
Or the heat of the moment
That hung in the air
But when I saw you there dancing
Mesmerized by your gaze
There was some kind of magic
That led me away

Mi corazon Perdido En Ti
My heart is lost to you
You have captured my love completely
My heart is lost to you

Mi Corazon Perdido En Ti
My heart is lost to you
You have captured my love completely
My heart is lost to you
Oh my heart is lost to you

Shane didn't stop to eat or rest. HE made only one stop to get gas and a bottle of Mt. Dew, but that was it. Petal to the metal, Shane drove so fast that even Shannon would have been impressed. Not paying attention as his mind was solely focused on getting to Shannon, Shane was surprised when his small economy-sized car ran out of gas outside of Memphis.

Cursing Shane locked the car and began running. HE figured that he'd been running for about an hour and a half when he came upon a house with a scooter outside for sale. Running up to the door he gave the woman his last $100 and set off on the scooter heading towards the arena that held his Shanny.

When he reached the arena it had been the fans screaming his name that got hi past the gate. When he'd reached the building fortunately Stephanie was standing inside the door talking to security. "Shane what are you doing here?" She asked smiling. "Shannon," Shane panted, "Need… Shannon." Smiling softly this time and well aware of the personal relationships in most of the wrestler's lives, she was well aware of the bond between Shane and Shannon. "He just got dome with his dark match, Sugar. He's probably in the showers. Go down this hall all the way to the end, turn left and it's the fourth door on the right."

"Thanks," Shane yelled as he was already halfway down the hallway. Various wrestlers called to him and fortunately most weren't insulted when he didn't respond to them. In fact a few that knew him and Shannon well weren't surprised at all. Shane dashed into the locker room ignrongin still more greetings and headed straight for the showers. Shannon wasn't hard to find even being naked as the day he was born and having his back to Shane. Sugar couldn't help but smile when he heard the unmistakable sounds of Scooby Doo coming from Shannon's direction.

Not caring if he got wer, Shane made his way towards his golden angel. Adam, who had been showering next to Shann,. Smiled and left knowing that the look on Shane's face meant only one thing. "Ammy hand me the shampoo pease!" Shannon called out and looking down Sugar spotted a bottle of Scooby Doo shampoo and conditioner that he'd bought for Shanny a couple weeks back.

Bending down Shane picked up the bottle then instead of passing it to Shannon right away poured some in his hand first. He then held out the bottle to Shannon who squealed, "SCOOBY!" Before Shannon could pout any out though Shane was lathering up his cherub's hair making him giggle. "Am whatrya doin? Shaney's gonna kick your ass if he finds out. You know I 'pose to be a good boy while he's far 'way on Raw!"

Gently Shane massaged Shannon's scalp the way that he knew Shannon liked it making the cherub sigh. "Am where'd ya yearn to do dat? I thought only m'Shaney knew I like dat!" Unable to be good any longer, Shane's hands wandered from Shannon's head down to his neck, across his shoulders and down his arms before circling around front to caress Shannon's chest and stomach. "AM!" Shannon shrieked turning only to find that it was Shane all along.

"SHANEY!" Shannon shouted, then bouncing leapt into Sugar's arms. Shane stepped into the stray headless of the Shampoo now running down Shannon's face as their lips locked and eyes slipped shut. "Need you Shann," Shane whispered into his cherub's mouth.

Not even bothering to mod, Shannon began tugging at Shane's shirt until with a satisfying rip it was torn from his lover's body. Hungry for more Shannon claimed Shane's lips again clawing at his shoulders as Shane's hands cupped Shannon's ass. Whimpering Shannon pressed his hardening erection into Shane's stomach as one of Sugar's fingers easily slipped into his ass.

Now rocking back and forth, Shannon's head fell back lifelessly. Hungry for another taste, Shane's lips locked on the exposed skin sucking and nibbling as Shannon's little love sounds got louder and louder. "Shaney please mowa," Shannon whined. Nodding Shane set Shannon down onto unsteady feet. Shane undid his pants pushing them down to pool around his ankles. Not thinking about where they were Shannon pushed on Shane's chest following his lover down onto the slippery and hard ceramic time floor. One of Shane's hands felt around for the forgotten shampoo bottle and once he found it Shane squeezed some out and used it to coat us cock.

Impatient Shannon pushed Shane's hand aside and in one swift motion impaled himself onto Shane's hardened rod. As green eyes locked with brown, Shane's hand found Shannon's own aching member as Shannon began to move. Automatically they slipped into a slow easy rhythm that they both preferred with neither's eyes leaving the other's. Thrusting his hips upward Shane easily found the sweet spot that he'd touched a thousand times and stroked it relentlessly as he watched Shannon.

Never in a million years could he get tired of watching Shannon climb the ladder to ecstasy where he would shatter at the top into a million pieces trusting his lover to catch them all and put him back together as he did the same for Shane. Exhausted Shannon collapsed onto Shane's chest cooing happily when his lover's arms wrapped around him rightly. As Shannon snuggled into him, Shane opened his eyes and smiled as he spotted Brock and Rey Rey behind them caught up in their own passion.

"Thought we was gonna see eash oder tomorra at home?" Shannon yawned rubbing his cheek against Shane's shoulder. "We was," Shane offered yawning himself as he felt Shannon stir. "What happened den?" Shannon asked rising up onto his hands to look down at his lover.

Shane shrugged and blushed slightly before answering. "I missed ya too much to wait." A sweet smile spread across Shannon's face as he snuggled back down onto Shane. I love ya Shaney."

Sighing Shane closed his eyes and absorbed the words knowing the trip had been worth it. "I love you too Shann." As he enjoyed the moment he decided that it fit how he felt about Shannon perfectly.

I lived in the shadows of live
You brought me into the light
My days were dark like the nights
You made them shiny and bright
I knew the moment I looked in your eyes
There was no doubt, I'd found paradise
You're my piece of heaven on earth
You're my flowing river when I'm dying of thirst
The rest of the music to an unfinished verse
You're my piece of heaven on earth
My whole world was turned upside down
You put my feet on the ground
When there was no hope around
You knew where it could be found
My heart was drowning in the deep blue sea
Then straight out of Eden
Your love rescued me
You're my piece of heaven on earth
You're my flowing river when I'm dying of thirst
The rest of the music to an unfinished verse
You're my piece of heaven on earth
