The large front porch was covered in straw. There were jack o'lanterns carved with the faces of his closest friends. Cobwebs held large black spiders, while bats seemed to have flown straight into the windows. A grotesque green witch flew back and forth across the expanse of the house. Inside the house, Jeff was busy preparing for the deluge of trick-or-treaters he expected. In the living room, Shane sat on the couch, barely acknowledging Jeff as he rushed around.
After his third trip from the kitchen, Jeff stopped in the doorway and looked at Shane. "C'mon, Shaney!" he whined. "Ya gotta get ready, cuz they're gonna be here soon!" Shane turned from the television, where he was watching the Peanuts Halloween special. "Why am I doing this again?" he asked. Jeff stood in front of him, hands on his hips, looking totally exasperated.
"Cuz Shanny had to take his nephew to the carnival at school," Jeff said, pouting. "And I gotta have someone here to help me pass out treats." Shane looked up at the blonde, smiling. Jeff was so cute when he pouted. "Fine," he said. "What do ya want me to do?" Jeff smiled, knowing he had won the battle. "Ya gotta go upstairs and get ready," he said. Shane looked at him, quizzically. "Get ready?" he repeated as Jeff grabbed his arm and dragged him to the stairs.
"Your costume," Jeff said when the reached the bottom of the staircase. "It's up in my room." Shane looked at him again. "And just what am I s'posed to be?" he asked. Jeff rolled his eyes. "The Hurricane, of course," Jeff said, as if it should have been obvious. Shane stared. "Ya gotta be kiddin', right?" he asked. "Ya want me to be myself for Halloween?" Jeff nodded. Shane started up the stairs, turning back once to protest again, but Jeff was gone.
Jeff ran out of the kitchen when he heard Shane coming down the stairs. He squealed with delight when he saw the Hurricane standing before him, complete with mask and cape. Jeff hugged Shane tightly. "Oh, ya look wonderful!" he proclaimed. Behind his mask, Shane rolled his eyes. It wasn't like Jeff had never seen him look exactly like this a hundred times before. Jeff made him spin around, just to make sure everything was perfect, before heading off to change into his costume.
"Now, if anybody rings the doorbell while I'm gone, just give 'em a treat," Jeff said as he rushed up the stairs. Shane looked at him in disbelief. Like I don't know what to do! he thought to himself. He wandered around in the hallway, looking for the bowl of candy. To his surprise, there was none. Instead, on a table next to the front door was a box full of…Pop-Tarts! Shane shook his head, then called up the stairs to Jeff.
"Hey, Hardy!" he yelled. Jeff poked his head out the door. "Somethin' wrong, Sugar?" Jeff asked. "You ain't seriously gonna give out Pop-Tarts, are ya?" Shane said. Jeff walked out of his room and stood at the top of the stairs. "What's wrong wif Pop-Tarts?" he asked. Shane turned to see Jeff coming down the stairs in his costume, a huge grin plastered on his face.
At the bottom of the stairs, the Green Lantern stood staring at the Hurricane. Shane rolled his eyes again. "Jeff," he started to say, "Have ya lost your mind?" Jeff looked at him with all the wide-eyed innocence of a child. "Whatcha mean, Hurricane?" Shane took a deep breath before replying. "Well, first ya make me wear my wrestlin' gear, then ya dress up like the Green Lantern, and ya wanna hand out freakin' POP-TARTS to the trick-or-treaters!"
Jeff just continued to stare at Shane, trying to figure out what was wrong with his plan. When Shane realized that, to Jeff, all this was perfectly normal, he just chalked it up to another Hardy holiday and went back into the living room, flopping down on the couch once again. Jeff watched him for a moment, then stepped out onto the porch, making sure everything was in place.
He turned off the porch light and flipped a small switch, illuminating all the jack o'lanterns. The witch began her flight back and forth across the porch, and eerie music began to play from the small boom box hidden behind a bale of hay. Jeff stepped back inside and spun around, his cape swishing through the air. He giggled to himself, then went into the living room, perching himself on the arm of the couch and watching Shane.
After a few minutes, Shane looked up at him. Seeing the smile on Jeff's face, he couldn't help but smile back. "What?" he asked. Jeff sighed happily, then replied, "I wanted to thank ya for helpin' me out tonight," he said. "I like doin' fun stuff on Halloween, but Matty would never let me. He said it was dumb." Shane bit his tongue, not wanting Jeff to know that he thought it was a little outrageous himself. But, this was Jeff - and Jeff was all about doing things to the extreme.
Shane was about to say something when the doorbell rang. Jeff squealed and jumped up, grabbing Shane and dragging him to the door with him. Slowly, Jeff pulled the door open and smiled as the small group of children standing there shouted, "TRICK OR TREAT!!" Shane counted them, then reached over into the box and grabbed 6 packages of Pop-Tarts and handed them to Jeff.
Jeff was giggling as he placed them in the bags held out by a small witch, a princess, mummy, a vampire, a clown who looked to be about 3 years old, and the teenager who was dressed as a football player. The little ones all said, "Thank you, Mr. Jeffy!" Jeff looked at the oldest one, and said, "Ya get stuck with takin' ya brothers and sisters out again this year, Tony?" The young man smiled and nodded. "Yeah, but I'm goin' to the carnival after we're finished," he replied. Jeff told them to have fun and be careful, then closed the door.
Five minutes later, the doorbell sounded again, and the process was repeated. Jeff laughed when he opened the door and saw a miniature Kane and Hurricane standing before him. "TRICK OR TREAT, MR. JEFFY!" they said. When Shane stepped from behind the door, he had to laugh as well. The little boy in the Hurricane costume just looked at him and stared. "Wow," he said quietly. Shane knelt down and looked at him.
"What's your name, Citizen?" he asked in his best Hurricane voice. "T..Tommy," the little boy stuttered. Jeff smiled down at his young neighbor as Shane reached out and shook the boy's hand. Suddenly, Jeff had a brilliant idea. "Hang on a sec, guys," Jeff said as he rushed to the dining room. He came running back to the door with a Polaroid camera. Shane looked back at Jeff and smiled. He stood in the middle of the two boys and smiled while Jeff snapped a few pictures, then he handed one to each of the boys, along with their Pop-Tarts.
Tommy and his brother thanked Jeff and Shane then ran off, eager to tell their friends about meeting the real Hurricane. Jeff was smiling at Shane. "That was sweet, Sugar," he said as he closed the door. Shane looked at Jeff and smiled. "It was kinda cool." Shane reached over and hugged Jeff, causing the younger man to giggle. "Now, ain't this fun?" Jeff asked. Shane nodded. He had to admit, it was fun.
As the night wore on, they answered the door for witches, warlocks, ghosts and goblins. There were princesses and puppies, Disney characters and monsters. It had been almost half an hour since the doorbell rang and Shane decided that there would be no more trick-or-treaters that night. Jeff was about to shut off the music and jack o'lanterns when the doorbell sounded again. The pair made their way to the door and pulled it open. Immediately, they began to laugh.
"TRICK OR TREAT!!" Standing before them were Jeff Hardy and the Hurricane. Christian wore a cut up t-shirt, baggy black jeans and his hair was a rainbow of color. Joey had on a Hurricane t-shirt and mask. Jeff laughed at the sight of his friends and invited them in. "Wassup wit dat?" Shane asked, pulling on Joey's mask. Joey pulled the mask over his head and tossed it on the coffee table, sinking down into the couch.
Jeff was circling Christian, surveying his outfit. "Not bad," he declared, hugging his friend. Christian smiled and sat next to Joey on the couch. Shane went over and turned on the porch light, then removed his cape and mask before joining the others in the living room. Christian laughed and said they should have taken a picture of Shane and Joey together before they removed their masks. Jeff jumped up and grabbed the pictures they had taken earlier, showing them to Joey and Christian.
Jeff went into the kitchen to get something for them to drink. On his way back to the living room, he grabbed the box of Pop-Tarts and offered some to his friends. Joey and Christian tore into their packages, but Shane refused to take one. "Do ya know this fool gave these out to the kids tonight?" Shane asked, shaking his head. "No way!" Christian said. Jeff nodded. "Man, that's cool!" he said, causing Jeff to smile.
They settled in to watch a scary movie, each one of them trying to frighten the other. As the movie ended, they all began to yawn. Christian and Joey rose to leave as Shane went upstairs to change into his clothes. He came back down with his gear in hand and they all said their goodbyes. As he was walking out the door, Jeff called to Shane once again. "Thanks, Sugar," he said, kissing his cheek. Shane smiled at him. "No big deal, Jeffy," he replied. "I had fun. Now, ya ain't gonna get scared here all by yourself, with all the monsters runnin' round?"
Jeff laughed and said goodbye to Shane. He softly closed the door and began to clean up the mess in the living room. Glancing at the clock, he saw that it was almost midnight. Another Halloween over and done with. As Jeff was loading glasses into the dishwasher, he heard the doorbell. Maybe Shane had forgotten something, or Christian and Joey had car trouble. He walked to the door and looked out the peephole, but it was too dark to see.
"Who is it?" Jeff called through the closed door. "Trick or treat!" a small voice responded. With a look of confusion, Jeff slowly unlocked the door and turned the knob. Standing on his porch was Shannon - dressed in a tan felt costume, his upper chest, neck and face smeared with brown and white. Jeff laughed. "Does your mama know you're out this late, little boy?" he asked.
Shannon giggled and waited for Jeff to move back so he could come in. Jeff surveyed him for a moment. "Nice costume," he said, reaching over and running his fingers through the brown body paint on Shannon's face, before licking his hand clean. "Mmm, chocolate," he said. Shannon smiled, then wiped off some of the white paint as well, before holding his finger out for Jeff to taste. "Marshmallow, too," Shannon said.
Jeff smiled. "A S'Mores Pop-Tart!" he squealed. Shannon nodded, his smile growing bigger. "Get it?" he asked. "S More?" Jeff nodded, then reached for Shannon. He pulled back the top of the large felt square, peering down at Shannon's chest. "Just how far down does that body paint go?" Jeff asked, his voice dropping lower. Shannon grinned at him. "Just to the top of the costume," he said.
Seeing the look of disappointment on Jeff's face, he held up a small plastic pumpkin, shaking the two bottles of body paint inside. "But, you can paint me anywhere ya want," Shannon said. Jeff smiled as he took Shannon's hand, leading him up the stairs and to his bedroom. "Did ya have fun at the carnival?" Jeff asked as he helped Shannon pull his costume over his head. Shannon shook his head.
"I didn't go," Shannon said. "I was busy makin' my costume, but I wanted it to be a surprise." Jeff nodded, then leaned forward, licking the stripes of chocolate from Shannon's neck. Shannon moaned, feeling himself harden as Jeff slowly caressed his skin. "So," Jeff said, "ya tricked me, huh?" Shannon nodded, trying to speak as Jeff flicked his tongue over one of his nipples.
"Ya mad at me?" Shannon asked. Jeff shook his head as he moved to the other side of Shannon's chest. "Well," Jeff drawled as he removed the rest of Shannon's clothes. "It is Halloween, ya know." Shannon looked at him, his face twisted in confusion, and pleasure, as Jeff licked his way down to Shannon's erection. "Wha… whatcha mean, Jeffy?" Shannon was barely able to croak out the words. "I got tricked," Jeff said, licking his lips. "But now, I get my treat," he finished before engulfing Shannon in his mouth. Halloween was a wonderful holiday, indeed.
