"I saw Mommy kissin' Santa Claus, underneath the mistletoe last night!" The sweet sound of Jeff Hardy's voice could be heard throughout the locker room as the superstars filed in for the taping of Raw. Bubba looked around for his friend, wondering where he was - and more importantly, what he was up to. Jeff was nowhere to be seen, but his singing could be heard by all. Tommy smiled as he joined Bubba on the wooden bench.
"Sounds like someone is in a good mood," Tommy said, pulling his gear out of the bag. Bubba nodded, his mind elsewhere at the moment. Tommy watched him, then looked around the room. "Where is the little elf anyway?" he asked. Shane looked across the room at Tommy, smiling. "He's around here somewhere," Shane replied. Tommy nodded then turned back to Bubba. "Hey!" he said loudly, waving his hand in front of Bubba's face. "You with us here, man?"
Bubba looked up at him. "Wha?" he asked. It was obvious he was distracted. Shane walked over and sat down on the bench, and looked at Tommy. "I think he's still hidin' out from Jeffy," Shane said. Tommy looked confused. "Why would he be hiding from Jeff?" he asked. Bubba blushed as Shane explained, "Jeff's been chasin' after Bubba for weeks, tryin' to kiss him, for some reason."
Tommy looked from Shane back to Bubba. Bubba shrugged. "Don't ask me, man," he said, getting up from the bench. Shane moved to Bubba's spot on the bench as he walked away. "Jeffy says it ain't fair that everybody else gets to kiss on TV and he can't," Shane said. "We were on the plane and Jeff started talkin' about it. He said the chicks got to kiss each other, so why couldn't he kiss somebody?" Tommy nodded.
"Let me guess," he said. "Bubba agreed with him, right?" Shane nodded, smiling. "Ever since then, Jeff's been followin' Bubba around, trying to smooch on him." Tommy chuckled. "So, our little elf wants big Bubba," he said. Shane shook his head. "No, he just wants to kiss Bubba," Shane replied. "It's a challenge now." They sat in silence for a moment before a big grin covered Tommy's face. "I think we need to help the boy," he said. Shane smiled back. "Whatcha got in mind?"
The locker room was full, and the backstage area was buzzing. After Raw was taped that night, they had 11 days off, followed by two shows in Hawaii. Excitement filled the air. Most of the wrestlers were wearing Santa hats, which were found in their lockers. Shane looked around for Jeff, but the young Hardy was nowhere to be found, even though his voice could still be heard singing Christmas carols throughout the back.
He had just asked, for the third time, if anyone had seen Jeff when the doors burst open. Jeff bounced into the room, shouting, "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" He was dressed in red velvet pants and a green tank top. The normal black and blue body paint that adorned his left arm had been replaced with red and white stripes, making it look like the biggest candy cane anyone had ever seen. On his head was a Santa hat with mistletoe around the cuff and jingle bells hanging from the end. He was carrying a black bag, slung over his shoulder.
Shane laughed when he saw Jeff, who was beaming brighter than any Christmas lights ever could. Jeff ran to his friend and hugged him tightly, then sat the bag down and dug around in it for a moment before pulling out a brightly wrapped present. He handed it to Shane, smiling. "I hear ya been a pretty good boy this year, Sug," he said. "Hope ya like it!"
Shane thanked him, then seeing the mistletoe on Jeff's hat, leaned over and kissed his cheek lightly. Jeff giggled. "Well, if you're gonna get friendly," he said, reaching into the bag again and pulling out a huge Hershey's Kiss. "I'll just give ya a kiss, too!" Shane laughed and watched as Jeff made his way around the room, handing out presents and candy kisses to everyone. Each man thanked him, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Well, everyone except Raven, who planted one on Jeff's lips, making him laugh harder.
Jeff bounced to the door, then looked around the room for Shane. "I gotta go give the girls their presents!" he shouted. "But, I'll be back! I still got more presents, but…" Jeff frowned slightly. "They ain't here to get 'em yet." With that, he was out the door again, leaving the locker room just a little darker than it had been before. A few moments later, the door opened again and Tommy entered. He walked over to Shane and asked where Jeff was.
"Playin' Santa at the moment," Shane replied. "He'll be back, though." Tommy nodded, then proceeded to tell Shane his plan to help Jeff achieve his ultimate goal. He had just finished when Jeff came back in, greeting everyone with 'HAPPY HOLIDAYS!" He ran to Tommy and sat on his lap. "You been naughty or nice, Tommy?" Jeff asked sweetly. Tommy laughed, then replied, "well, both, I guess." Jeff nodded, then reached into his bag and pulled out a wrapped gift and another candy kiss.
"Merry Christmas, Tommy," Jeff said softly. Tommy smiled at Jeff, wrapping his arms around him and hugging him tightly. Jeff rested his head on Tommy's shoulder and sighed happily. "Only one more present in my bag," he said, peering in. Shane laughed. "Would that be a present for a certain Dudley?" he asked. Jeff nodded quickly. "Well," Tommy said, lowering his voice, "what if I told you we have a present for you?"
Jeff's eyes lit up as Tommy began to explain how they were going to help him get what he wanted. He began to bounce around in Tommy's lap, squealing happily. Just then, the door opened and in walked Bubba. When he saw Jeff on Tommy's lap, he blushed. "Merry Christmas, Bubba!" Jeff yelled. Bubba looked around, trying to find a way to escape, but there was none. Reluctantly, he walked over to the small group on the bench and sat down on the opposite end.
Jeff reached down and picked his bag up off the floor. He reached in and pulled out a box, handing it to Shane, who passed it along to Bubba. Bubba looked at the gift, then to Jeff. "You didn't have to get me anything," he said quietly. Jeff shrugged. "Ain't gotta do nothin', 'cept show up on time and behave myself," he replied. Bubba nodded. "Thanks, Jeff," he said. Jeff smiled. "OH!" he exclaimed loudly. "Almost forgot your kiss!"
Bubba stood up quickly, ready to bolt for the door, when Jeff reached his hand out, the silver wrap on the large Hershey's Kiss glistening in the light. Bubba looked from the candy to Jeff and smiled, taking it from Jeff's hand. "Thank you," he said, turning toward his locker. "Ya welcome," Jeff said, smiling. "Hey, why ain't you got a hat, Bubba?" Jeff asked, causing Bubba to stop and look back at him.
Bubba shrugged. "Didn't get one, I guess," he said. Jeff pulled his Santa hat off and handed it to Bubba. "Here, you can have mine," Jeff said. As Bubba took the hat, Jeff turned and walked out of the room, winking at Tommy and Shane as he left. Tommy walked over to Bubba and leaned against the lockers. "What's wrong, Bub?" he asked casually. Bubba looked at Tommy, then turned before his friend could see him blushing.
"Nothin'," he said, then looked at the hat in his hands before carefully putting it on. Shane laughed. "Looks good on ya, man," he said. Bubba grinned, then began getting his gear out. Shane winked at Tommy and left the locker room. Bubba had just finished pulling his shirt over his head, when Shane stuck his head in the door. "Bubba, Tommy - JR's lookin for y'all" he called before letting the door shut.
Bubba sighed and got up, fastening his shorts. He walked toward the door, stopping to wait for Tommy. He turned with his back toward the door, never seeing it crack open just a bit or the bright green eyes that peeked in briefly before letting the door close again. Bubba pushed the door opened. "Wait," Tommy said, squatting on the floor. "Shoe's untied."
Bubba sighed impatiently and watched as Tommy tied his shoe. Bubba was still looking over his shoulder at Tommy as he stepped into the hallway, the door closing behind him. He started to turn, but found himself face to face with Jeff. Bubba looked back at the door, leaning back to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. As Jeff walked closer, he realized he had been set up.
Cursing Tommy and Shane silently, Bubba looked at Jeff. "Uh, something I can do for ya?" he asked. Jeff was right in front of him now, leaning closer. "Yep," Jeff said, smiling. Bubba looked at him with questioning eyes. "See," Jeff said, leaning so close Bubba could smell his peppermint gum. "I gave out all my kisses, and I ain't got one left for myself."
Bubba nodded, too afraid to speak. "I just figured since you was under the mistletoe," Jeff continued, pointing to Bubba's hat, "you might gimme one." Bubba sighed, rolling his eyes. It was inevitable. When Jeff wanted something, he usually got it. Bubba tilted his head forward and briefly kissed Jeff's lips - nothing more than a quick peck, really.
"Happy now?" he asked, trying to sound angry. Jeff shook his head and leaned forward, pressing his body against Bubba's and kissing him harder. Bubba struggled briefly, before realizing just how good it felt to have Jeff's lips on his, or his tongue probing the corners of his mouth. Bubba groaned softly before wrapping his arms around Jeff and pulling him closer, the kiss becoming deeper and more passionate.
Jeff pulled his head back and stared at Bubba, smiling. Bubba shrugged and began to kiss Jeff again, just as the door was pulled open from the other side. The men fell backward, and Jeff landed on Bubba's stomach. Bubba grunted, then looked up into Tommy's wide eyes. Bubba grinned. "Merry Kissmas, Tommy!" he said. Tommy just shook his head and stepped over the pair in the doorway.
"In case you forgot," he said, looking down at them again. "We do have a show to tape." Jeff giggled. "Mmm hmmm," he said, as Bubba's mouth found his again. After a few moments, a small crowd had gathered to watch them, clapping and whistling. Jeff sighed and pushed himself up off Bubba, reaching for Shane's hand to pull him up. Jeff then reached down and helped Bubba to his feet, smiling.
"Merry Kissmas, Bubba," Jeff said, his eyes twinkling. "Maybe later you can kiss me under the mistletoe." Bubba blushed, but pulled Jeff close to him anyway. "Any time, Jeffy," he said, then pulled the Santa hat off and placed it on Jeff's head. "How bout now?" Bubba asked. Jeff shook his head. "Ain't what I meant, Bubba," he replied. "Then what?" Bubba asked. Jeff smiled as he pulled out the waistband of his pants. His red boxers were covered with images of tiny sprigs of mistletoe. Bubba laughed, then looked around at his friends. "Merry Kissmas, indeed!"
